How to steps for 'The Kicks' promotion

  • The help I am offering is more than just me sharing your pictures. What I  do is show people how to put together their 'stuff' while building communities of active and participating followers. In a nut shell... help yourselves while helping other people.
  • There are several social media steps involved. Since you will have control of them [ very important] you need to be behind the building off. Make sense so far?

The basic concept is two fold - have you heard of the push / pull effect? Briefly the p / p effect is where you place everything 'The Kicks' as a group on an area called a 'hub'. No Facebook and other socialized media is not the primary hub type I am talking about. Have you a web page [not a school based one]? Every thing you do goes through this Hub. Google is one that is prevalent through all educational and Governmental spheres through out most of the western world. Costs nothing too. This s the first step. Would you like me to make a Google blog for you. That way you can edit it . Which of course means that 'The Kicks' will need a gmail account.

While you are at it it would be good for each of you to get individual gmail blogs and gmails as well. I will explain in depth later on. Suffice to say you keep you personal stuff on your personal blog and gmail account while you place your 'The Kicks' stuff on the 'The Kicks' professional blog site.

Oh yes if you want me to make the blogs for 'The kicks' and/ or yourselves you will retain all rights to them as well. Now and forever. The only things I will show you how to promote and get promotes will be through 'The Kicks' site. This is important for you to notate [file away] for your future reference. It is also important for both you, 'The Kicks' and what I do this end for you to be disassociated with what should not go on through the net and the networks that you are going to develop. No swearing [ not ever a crass world of finger gesture] no nudity and remember that what goes on the net promoters in your future as well as further education facilities do check for what you have placed through the internet. They will be effectively paying your way through life.... [harp/ harp and harp again] yes you have heard this all before but check out your photo shot! Think about it and take the action you really want too about this. That is what everyone see's.

Let me put it this way. YouTube and SEO ranking measurements. Before you upload anything yourself gain a large following. Your initial first ranking happens when [finally] you upload your first video. I am talking about a very LARGE following ... thousands. SO while you are at school and performing what you do in the 0.03 seconds you have with regard to the initial impact you / your picture makes will help determine your follower ration. Does this make sense? If you already have a measurably large following then promoters will be willing to pay you more per appearance. Ask yourself -Are you doing 'The Kicks' just to 'bum' around or to get going with something that is important to you all? Remember the P /P effect [push / pull] I spoke of before. How you present what you and 'The Kicks' are is part of the push effect. There is a lot to do in order to get the push effect activated and to that end I will show you how - for now. Then once the pull effect comes in to play your promoter will want to take over. Which is why I have said to keep these notes [ hard copy them].

Once you have a basic hub I will then show you how to activate your twitter   /  Facebook page  From here getting these to be interactive with each other is the next step.    I know this all may sound very basic too you.  However people that I deal with  often do not have the basic steps and this alone trips them up later on.  So I make it my business to go one step at a time.

Customer Touchpoints

What are customer touchpoints?

What makes your business stand out from the rest?  What makes you as a sales person stand out so that both people and your client base trust you anyway?

From a customers point of view ever business has product and costs. These are givens.  But why do they allow you in the door?  What makes them want to do business with you and keep coming back or referring your service to others?

What are the little things that make customers come back?
Pleasant decor.
  • Is their somewhere for the client that has to wait on your time to log into the wi-fi service?  Can they make a cuppa?  Is the music so loud that they really have to go - now! Good lighting, pleasent smells. Clean restrooms.
Appropriate storage capacities.
  • A mechanics shop that has a pile of everything everywhere would make people think that their car will be done ... when it is found... later.
    • Where as a mechanic shop that has everything in it';s place and a place for everything gives the first impression of a faster more through service because of streamlining and time management aspects.
  • A home business that has a well looked after frontage gives the illusion that the people inside care for their things.  Therefore they will care for your business - not spreading everything around for competitors to 'take'.
Extras that cost
  • Hidden fees and unclear billing statements are not something that the customers have budgeted for.  After a delay in payment to you will they really be coming back?

Buzzworthy side effects of good touchpoints
First off when people actually get something that they were not expecting they will comment on it.  Maybe not to you, but word of mouth gets around through their friends.  Especially over the internet as many customers both research the products they want to purchase before purchasing.  When they find what they are looking for a 'share or like' may occur.  Then they will tell others about what they have purchased.  Word of mouth like this is quick and does your business well.  The reverse is also true.

Valuing the customers time and energy may be a little thing that you can 'show' your business cares about.  Having small chocolates individually rapped, or biscuits in their own wrapper placed next to the refreshment stand allows freedom of choice for the customer. Having an empty plate or container means that someone has not been keeping tabs on the freebee's. It really is the  little things are something that your customers value above and beyond the basic product that they came in to purchase.

How to find out what your customers are saying about you.
  • Simply - ask them.
  • Listen to what the customers have to say.  Verbally as well as on the internet.
    • Listen to on--line conversations with a # and your company name straight after the #.  Anything on-line within that servers platform will come up.  Get back to these customers quickly.  Rectify the problem before word of mouth becomes a viral backlash.
  • Be easily found on the net.
    • Engage with customers, and other people through the forums, microblogging and commenting on their comments or feeds.
    • Create focus groups.
      • be active within these focus groups.
      • Being proactive and bringing up topics for conversation gets your business name [and your one too] seen on the top of peoples comments.
  • Remain within your focus as this will give you and your customers the direction your business is in.
    • Ground braking technology input when all someone really wants is to collect a cuppa and something to eat could and will put them off returning.
Customer touchpoints are not always obvious.  The touchpoints are sensory pleasures or displeasures.  When painful or just not there another brand fill the void.  Your potential customers will simply go there.

Resilience in our Sales People.

Selling and Sales People go hand in hand ... correct?  Like so many other positions stress and its associated triggers also are right there too.  So, how does a sales person have the ability that enables them to adapt, therefore deal with stressful selling situations? Add to this the external disasters that good sales people are able to turn into a profitable situation for both client, the business they represent and their own bank balance.  Yet every one, in the three way situation, feels satisfied as they hold firm to the belief of a job well done!

The trick is that the sales person has learned to adapt a "roll with the punches " attitude.  The benefit is that by adapting to adversity the minor or major stress factors and life changes have less impact.

Lets start with the smaller practical factors with sales.

  • Know who you are.
  • Have belief in what you are selling.
  • Expect the help you ask for to be given.
  • Keep a tab on the follow ups.
  • Do your paper work
  • Present well, be courteous, mannered and leave with grace.
Now the slightly harder ones.
  • Acknowledge that when you are selling there will be many who are not buying.  Simple fact. Live with it or do what you have been taught to do about it.
  • When you cold call there will be many knock backs. Acknowledge there is a roller coaster ride to sales. Know that you are supported on the bad days, give out to others on these days to. Be part of a forward moving team. Celebrate both the good and bad achievements.
  • Rebalance and move on.
  • Wow! Are they having a bad hair day or what?  Do not take their bad hair day on or it will follow you and your sales team around like a bad smell.
All these things bring about emotional changes and surprises. How you deal with these ups and downs, negatives, knock backs, frustrations, what your family members are doing [ or could be doing] may have been observed during your infancy and may even carry through into your selling period.  Note that the resilience you are looking for can and should be developed with a little effort.  Resilience is not resistance. Resilience is not a matter of blocking, out but of how you hold onto the challenge, grab a duster and flick away a few fears, then get on with the job of selling.

T.R.U.S.T

Try a
Ruse
U
Suffer
Tragically

The effect of T.R.U.S.T. being used in the negative is that the actual TRUST you have built up over time and through honest effort simply evaporates.  Gone like a fluff of dust into a vacuum.

Knowing your product

People who lie or those spreading maliciousness gossip will get caught out.  With today's internet is there really anywhere you can hide once your credibility has vanished?

Yes. People will buy from positive and credible  people.  Anything negative will tend to make those you are talking to hurray away in haste.  But once you have lied or gossiped people stay away from you in droves. Think about it : If you have lied about one thing, or gossiped about another person or business what do they think you are going to do about them?  And you really want to sell something to them.  All I can say is keep at it you may be successful.
Here's what you do.

Should you find that there has been a slip up go back and correct it.  Your reputation may suffer for a while but do not do the same things twice.  Hand the sales opportunity over to someone else before you do this again. Your reputation is the only thing that counts when selling. It is your honesty and therefore your reputation that sells to the client.

There will be times that you are asked a question by the client, other times when you think that there is a product or service that may be just what the client needs. The client has outlined what they want, you have spent time listening, you know that time is money... effectively your money.  STOP right here.  Allow the customer to hear you out.  Make a follow up time so that you can find out further information with regard to what the customer wants.  Will it suit their needs expressed as it is , be tailor made for the clients needs? or even not suit at all.  Now YOU get back to the client and let them know.  Even arrange to bring in the expert in that field.

The reason is easy :-  T.R.U.S.T.

What time was that?

Were you late, barging in through a busy sales time, did you talk too long, waste to much time?

Waste time you loose the opportunity, waste time management skills and literally kill the opportunity of furthing that lead while nullifying the request for a referral.

Made a mistake have you?

A critical review is not earning a grade but doing looking backwards in order to do something better next time. Often a critical review is mistaken for when one person is critical of what people did or did not do or when a person has done something wrong.

Picture found somewhere
on the web!
The critical review is the act or instance of evaluation or appraising the gathering of feedback is used to make the next situation run more smoothly.  All the stake holders go over the information gathered re the event, brake the event into segments. Each segment has an action.  The actions are reviewed. Each action has an outcome - these too have a review. Actions or non-actions are taken into consideration.

The beauty of recording events at the time they occur is that everyone [all stakeholders] can make adjustments for future guide lines with regard to possible scenarios. Things that are recorded tend to be remembered as fresh incidents during the information gathering process.

A little stepping stone

In order to go for another stepping stone qualification for Community Development I needed to be directly employed within the Community Development capacities.

I can now say I am.

People are great. You learn a lot from them.

The other day I was in the front office with the account.   Others were with clients.

The message came that the person being interviewed for a sales position had been held up time wise.  The sales person was some one that one of my family members knew... could a girl of nineteen come too.

As things turned out time management wise things worked out well in that one client interview finished after the three others had arrived and settled in.

The owner of the company came out. Introductions were performed.  Now here is where the crunch came. I had not thought ahead as to where exactly interviews would take place. Impressions count and I had not had time between both sessions to clean up a room.

 Position Heads need to network.
As it was the owner treated all of us to a side of his character that was unexpected but normal for him.  The interview became a bit one sided as the sales person really was not sure of the situation, nor did he have a clear idea of what how and when things were going to go.  No one had pre informed him of anything except that there was a job opening.

So atypical was the interview that we all joined in.  At times I felt that I was a bridge between the ex military style this is what I want... how you do it is up to you approach.  A very clear cut and direct approach compared to the person being interviewed approach of direct me every step of the way.

The sales person was so bamboozled in this approach that he was at least hearing the owner out.  Asked a few hesitant questions and stated the truth.  He did not think I could do the job.  Now at this point you would think the interview was over.  Not the case.  The owner wanted honesty and the other person was bowled over and slipping fast.  The owner came back a little with drawing him out.   My son mad a few comments.  The young lady participated.  A few jokes and comments were made.  The atmosphere lighted.

At one point I asked the owner to go back to the basic ground up sales program I had suggested.  He considered it and looked to myself for a lead.   Respecting the need for business privacy I stated that there were basic sales things to consider first.  My son had an idea as I had asked him for advise.  Both the sales person and my son had worked together in cold calling marketing.  There was no door to door cold calling here except for the businesses.  Then there was a procedure to nut out and move forward on.

At no time was the head sales person to do all the things expected to get the business sales up and running. The sales person we were looking for would be a head sales person in charge of developing a team.  The team was already being found.  The business had an accountant head. Head of security. Head of Risk management. Myself I am a Community Developer and in charge of training team. Delegation and motivation were the key.

From this point on I saw a real change in the interview energy.  The sales person came forward with suggestions as well as the inclusion of himself within these suggestions. If he was a fish he was 'realing' himself in to shore.  There was a snag that he later told me about... he had just about landed himself a job elsewhere.  Hence why he was late.  That second interview had taken longer than anticipated. He would know by the next day.  The boss here would be phoned by 1000hrs the following day as the boss here would not be available until then.

By the end of the interview the owner had shared some things that were not commonly known. This showed that he trusted all three of the people there.  The young lady had not realised this until I got hold of her that evening and informed her that she would be taken on as a 'pen pusher' as she requested when she had done her Security course and became a registered Security Guard.  Reason- there were papers that she could not handle until she has this clearance certificate.  At this point in the conversation I tied together the matter of the owners trust  factors. She was overcome ... blown away.

My job was affected in that I realised a major snag was exposed. Interviewing was not the owners thing. So now I have designed a step by step process that the interviewees will get to expect, will satisfy the job find networks, and will assist in relieving everyone pressure wise.

With my Community Development experience, business experience and other life skills I know that now my work begins. The focus has come into shape.

I have explained how things will work.  To each separately drawn into the picture various other aspects that neither of them had thought of. They too are part of the expanding business venture.

Move over I am coming through.

The mum test

Business sales person have one very basic conscience checker.

That's the one that says..."Would my mum be proud of me if she knew what I was about to do?".

Think about it !

Is the action worth the reaction?

When and if things ever came to this point do you really need this check point.  Your decision has already been made for you.  Are you ready to have to keep looking over your shoulder just to check up on things?

OOps I forgot my verification code

A few days ago there I was working my way through "How to get into " syndrome.  A few choice words were though of too.

Anyway. I found out about verification codes.  Promptly got 10 of them.

What a great idea.

It was till I went to a computer that was not mine and was also 90 minutes away! Tried opening my Google Site to show them there one that I had been working on.  The verification codes were at home.  Great.  Today I have the verification codes [ copied out] and I am travelling back there as the site needs their approval before they pay for their Google web page and release it.  That way there is an web-address available for customers to get to them. Secondly all documentation, customer information and publicity would have been moving by now.

Google did warn  about the verification codes.  Print / copy .  Do not forget these ... even place in wallet. There is even a note that only the latest set of backups will work on my Back up verification codes print out. I did two out of three and was caught out, made to feel foolish and dumb.

On the flip side I feel good as no anyone else would also have problems getting in too!.

Opening your Google Site to work on it.

I am now celebrating.

Google is Wonderful

But Who changed my search engine to Bing?.  I had become so used to having a Google search engine that I had not even thought of this basic thing to check off.  Then I went and found  How to create a new Site on YouTube.

There is a really interesting pause button that was used as I paused the button and checked out on a new tab what the Radford Tutorial guy was telling me to do.

This then took a lot of going back and forward practice and note taking.  I now have the instructions. When I show Will on Monday I will not fee stupid at the key boards. That way the site he needs operating fully will be ready.

The next steps within the project will be able to be completed as a .com site name can go on the paperwork.

Triggering subliminal memories.

Near 6 hours after first sitting down to this computer what have I done.

  • Missed a personal appointment ...yes.
  • Listened to the rain begin to pour down and considered not mowing the jungle out the back [again].
  • I have finally worked out how to get into my Google Site list.
    • Through this the blogger sites and other things I thought I had lost access too.
Google search was wonderful. The link that was provided on You Tube helped me out. This link was "All about how to create a simple web page" but it triggered a subliminal memory that released a memory.  That is the "Penny" dropped.
